VERTICAL GARDENS thrive both indoors and outdoors, but during the gray winter months, a colorful living wall can be a welcomed backdrop. Eric Westerduin, strategy director at Suite Plants, recently installed this living wall at The Launch Factory, a co-working space inside a World War II-era textile mill on Wilkinson Boulevard. “The client wanted to add a living wall as a focal point, but also to help soften up some of the huge brick walls,” he says. According to Westerduin, maintenance is minimal—small walls can be watered manually, and larger walls like this one have an automatic irrigation system that sprinkles the wall twice a week.
